We often think of architecture as a consumer of landscapes: forests are cut, mountains are mined, oil is pumped. We rarely think about architecture’s capacity to create and sustain landscapes: specifying wood leads more forests to be planted; choosing plastic results in a proliferation of oil wells. This project proposes that architects become more cognizant of the supply chains that their designs entail and the landscapes of production that they create.
